IDI’s outreach programmes strengthen services in IDI focal areas, through systematic and long-term linkage with capacity building partners.   Partners might include national government institutions, local government organizations, reputable NGOs, and training institutions.  As much as possible, the programme aims to take a ‘health systems’ approach—with an emphasis on developing sustainable, long term, multi-facetted connections between IDI and capacity building partners, across a range of coherent projects, which enable each partner to play to its evolving strengths as systems develop.  This year IDI has engaged in outreach partnerships with Kampala City Council (KCC), in collaboration with the Mulago-Mbarara Teaching Hospitals’ Joint AIDS Programme (MJAP); and with Kibaale and Kiboga districts, in collaboration with a consortium of implementing partners.  Other activities are rapidly developing.
